  • Vannevar Oct 2025–present · Staff Software Engineer 11 mos

I'm at Vannevar now. Same job as everywhere else: find the real problem, then go build it, usually with a small team.

I take products from the first messy question through shipping, and then through the versions after that.

  • LeaderFactor Jun 2021–Oct 2025 · Chief Technology Officer 4 yrs 4 mos

I was CTO at LeaderFactor for a little over three years, and a senior engineer there for a year before that. We built a leadership training platform that Fortune 500 companies use every day.

The app is TypeScript, React Router, Postgres, and Tailwind. I added RAG and chat so people could actually talk to the material. Surveys had to stay fast with more than 12,000 people in them at once.

Four years of SOC 2 Type 2, no exceptions. I did accessibility audits and the fixes that followed, and I mentored a small engineering team.

  • Built Brands Aug 2020–Jul 2021 · Shopify Developer 1 yr

Contract at Built Brands, the protein bar company behind Built.com. They had a NetSuite cutover that didn't take, and the store was down.

I rebuilt it on Shopify and got it back up. The work was the storefront, checkout, and the UI so the site actually matched how they sell.

  • Skipio Sep 2018–Jun 2021 · Senior Software Engineer 2 yrs 9 mos

I led frontend engineering and mobile engineering at Skipio, a conversational texting product for real estate, fitness, and retail. Web, iOS, and Android.

The work was the messaging UI, drip campaigns, Zapier into CRMs, and keeping render and cache latency down so the apps stayed quick. Semantic HTML and ARIA where it mattered.

  • Graduated with Degree in Software Engineering
  • Stukent Apr 2016–Jun 2017 · Full-Stack Software Developer 1 yr 2 mos

I started at Stukent on Mimic Social, a social media marketing simulation. Students ran campaigns for a fictional store: strategy, analytics, influencer work. I built the core of that, including the algorithms that made the sim go.

Then I led frontend engineering on Edify, their LMS. Courseware, live analytics, assessments. Cloud-based, used by a lot of students and teachers at once.

  • Brigham Young University–Idaho Jan 2016–Apr 2016 · Applications Developer 3 mos

I spent a couple months mentoring students in the web development courses, then built internal apps on campus.

  • Missionary in Naga, Philippines
  • thinkBox Aug 2013–Nov 2013 · Software Developer

Sole developer at thinkBox, a Chilean startup. The product was an app for business students to build business model canvases.

I built it, hosted it, and kept it running. The team used it for hosting and mentorship around those canvases.

  • Cherry Creek School District Jul 2012–Nov 2013 · Instructor for Game Development Class

I taught computer science to elementary students in Aurora. Lua on iPads, using Codea. Short lessons, then they made something.

  • Graduated High School
  • Upwork Jul 2011–Nov 2013 · Contract Software Developer

Freelance JavaScript. Remote clients, small web apps, whatever they needed shipped. I cared about the code being something they could keep.

  • Envato Aug 2011–Sep 2013 · Envato Marketplace Author

I built a CRM, put it on the Envato marketplace, and did the support myself. Design, code, sales, the inbox. PHP.

  • Started small contract jobs in web development, 2010
  • The Trails Recreation Center May 2009–Dec 2012 · Receptionist & Contract Web Developer

Front desk in Centennial: sales, the phones, training people. At 17 I also contracted a racquetball reservation system for them.

It ran until 2020, when they replaced it.
